Trump Supports Hagedorn Policy of Veterans Medical Care Choice

Blue Earth, MN – In a speech devoted to Veterans issues and reform of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) delivered yesterday in Virginia, Donald J. Trump proposed that America’s Veterans be guaranteed the right to choose their own doctors and hospitals.

The Republican Party’s presumptive presidential nominee said Veterans should be able to seek care at both VA facilities and privately operated medical institutions. Mr. Trump’s policy echoes a bold pro-Veteran solution long advocated by Minnesota’s First District GOP congressional candidate, Jim Hagedorn. See:

“I’m excited that Donald Trump has embraced complete medical care choice for America’s Veterans,” said Hagedorn.  “Empowering veterans to choose their own doctors and hospitals will ensure that our retired military heroes receive the timely, quality medical care they were promised, have earned and deserve,” said Hagedorn.

“If elected to serve southern Minnesotans in Congress, I will work with President Trump to make this proposal a reality,” Hagedorn said. “Granting Veterans the right to choose their doctors and hospitals is an example of how new Republican leadership will take power from the Washington politicians, bureaucrats and interest groups and send it back to the states and the people.”

Hagedorn said innovative solutions to help Veterans are long overdue. “Veterans are literally dying at the hands of President Obama’s Department of Veterans Affairs, with upwards of 500,000 VA patients waiting more than 30 days for medical care at any moment,” he said.

“My opponent [DFL Rep. Tim Walz] promised results, but after serving 10 years in Congress and working hand and hand with President Obama’s VA, Veterans are worse off today than when Tim Walz was first elected,” Hagedorn charged.

Hagedorn said Trump’s proposal offers voters a clear choice. “Tim Walz and Hillary Clinton oppose the Trump-Hagedorn solution of complete medical care choice for Veterans. They are beholden to the bureaucrats, federal union bosses and the status quo. Instead, citizens are looking for leaders who stand for commonsense ideas to help the American people and defeat the corruption and incompetence of Washington, D.C.,” Hagedorn said.
