By Troy Neumann, News8000 - LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) - The son of a former member of Congress is hoping to represent Minnesota at the federal level.
Jim Hagedorn is running for Minnesota's first Congressional District, which covers the southern counties of the state.
The Republican candidate learned about national politics from his father, Tom Hagedorn, who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1975 through 1983.
Hagedorn says if elected he would work with Republican leaders and the President to keep America moving in the right direction.
"Keep America safe, to make America prosperous, and to protect our God-given rights, and also sustain and defend agriculture and our rural way of life,” said Hagedorn.
Hagedorn campaigned unsuccessfully against then incumbent Tim Walz in 2016. He hopes to win the seat now that Walz is resigning to run for Minnesota Governor.
The fall elections are this November.
