HAGEDORN SECURES ENDORSEMENTS FROM KEY U.S. HOUSE AG COMMITTEE MEMBERS
- Vice Chairman “GT” Thompson and Subcommittee Chair Frank Lucas Back Campaign -
Blue Earth, Minnesota – The Friends of Hagedorn Committee today announced that U.S. House Agriculture Committee Vice Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson and past Agriculture Committee Chairman and current Subcommittee Chairman Frank Lucas have endorsed Jim Hagedorn’s candidacy for Congress in Minnesota’s First District.
The backing of Representatives Thompson and Lucas build upon an impressive list of endorsements received by Hagedorn and further unify key Republican Members of Congress, First Congressional District County Chairs, Minnesota State Senators and Representatives and GOP activists behind the Hagedorn campaign.
As a descendent of a long line of dairy farmers, Representative Thompson is an active member of the House Agriculture Committee. Thompson is serving his fifth term representing Pennsylvania’s Fifth Congressional District, and is a life-long resident of Howard Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania.
“I am proud to support my friend, Jim Hagedorn, for Congress. Jim and I both come from large, rural and agriculture-based districts, and his farm roots and understanding of agriculture will make him an invaluable Member of Congress. I look forward to Jim earning the people's vote and hope to work with him in the House of Representatives on our shared goals of sustaining agriculture and our rural communities,” said Thompson.
Elected in 1994, Frank Lucas is a fifth generation Oklahoman whose family has lived and farmed in Oklahoma for over 100 years. His Third Congressional District, which includes all or portions of 32 counties in northern and western Oklahoma, is one of the largest agricultural regions in the nation.
“I strongly believe Jim Hagedorn is the right person to help protect and preserve the rights of American farmers. Jim understands the challenges facing our country's farmers and has the experience to make a difference for them on day one. Our country needs leaders in Congress like Jim Hagedorn, and I am proud to endorse his campaign and look forward to working with him in Congress," commented Lucas.
“If elected to serve in Congress, sustaining agriculture and our southern Minnesota way of life will be one of my top priorities,” said Hagedorn. “My goal is to serve on the House Committee on Agriculture and provide Minnesota’s agriculture community with a strong voice in the Republican majority, and I look forward to working closely with Congressmen Thompson and Lucas to support our agriculture-based rural economies,” said Hagedorn.
The Friends of Hagedorn Committee will periodically release its growing list of grass roots supporters, which will include Republican County Chairs, Republican activists, Members of Congress and state legislators from all 21 counties in the First District.
