“Tax Cuts and Jobs Act Will Spur Economic Growth in Southern Minnesota”

Blue Earth, Minnesota – Jim Hagedorn, Republican candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s First Congressional District, reiterated his support for H.R. 1, the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.” H.R. 1 passed the U.S. House of Representatives today by a vote of 227 to 203.

“I’m pleased Congressional Republicans have delivered on a key promise of the 2016 campaign – to reform the outdated and overly complex federal tax code and help families, farmers and Main Street businesses keep more of their hard-earned money,” said Hagedorn.

“Tax reform will spur economic growth and create high-wage jobs across southern Minnesota and America,” Hagedorn said.

If elected to Congress, Hagedorn promised to champion even bolder tax simplification to further bolster the economy and empower taxpayers to decide how best to save, invest and spend income. “My goal is to create a federal tax system that is as flat, fair and simple as possible,” said Hagedorn.

Hagedorn believes Congressional Republicans must continue working with President Trump to enact major economic reforms over the coming months and years. “In addition to tax reform, I support several conservative solutions to unleash our nation’s economy and support southern Minnesota’s rural, AG-based economy,” said Hagedorn.

Hagedorn’s legislative goals include: federal regulatory reform; repeal and replace of Obamacare; work-for-welfare; merit-based immigration; zero-based budgeting; expanding agricultural exports; and, U.S. energy independence.
