HAGEDORN FILES FOR OFFICE
Makes Candidacy Official on First Day of Filing
St. Paul, Minnesota – Jim Hagedorn, Republican-endorsed candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s First Congressional District, today officially filed for office with the Minnesota Secretary of State.
“While our campaign has been hard at work across the First District, today makes it official,” said Hagedorn. “We will continue our full-time, grass roots campaign across all 21 counties of southern Minnesota, and I look forward to meeting people at their homes, at parades, community gatherings, church suppers and on Main Street,” said Hagedorn.
In the 2016 election, Hagedorn received 49.6% of the vote against six-term incumbent Tim Walz, who is not seeking re-election to Congress. Minnesota’s First District is considered the best pick-up opportunity in the country for U.S. House Republicans. Hagedorn decisively won the Republican Party’s endorsement at the First District’s April 21 convention on the first ballot, 218-60 or 76%-21%.
“Growing up on the Hagedorn family farm in Truman taught me the time-tested values of hard work, honesty, responsibility and respect. It is a privilege to run for Congress and it is with those same values that I will serve the people of southern Minnesota if I am honored with their trust.”
