Three Committee Chairs Pledge Backing in CD 1 Campaign

Blue Earth, Minnesota – Jim Hagedorn, Republican candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s First Congressional District, today announced his campaign has been endorsed by three additional state legislators with a cumulative 46 years of legislative experience.

The list of additional endorsements includes:

  • State Representative Greg Davids of Preston, Chair of the House Tax Committee. Chair Davids is serving his 13th term representing Houston and Fillmore Counties
  • State Representative Steve Drazkowski of Mazeppa, Chair of the House Property Tax and Local Government Finance Division. Chair Drazkowski is serving his sixth term representing Dodge, Goodhue, Wabasha and Winona Counties
  • State Representative Joe Schomacker of Luverne, Chair of the Health and Human Services Reform Committee. Chair Schomacker is serving his fourth term representing Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone and Rock Counties

“It is an honor to be endorsed by Representatives Davids, Drazkowski and Schomacker, and I look forward to campaigning with them in the weeks ahead,” said Hagedorn. “These experienced legislative leaders and committee chairs have worked hard to improve Minnesota’s tax climate, reduce the regulatory burden on farmers and small business owners, and reform our human services programs to better serve seniors, veterans and the truly needy,” Hagedorn stated.

The Davids, Drazkowski and Schomacker endorsements bring to nine the number of First Congressional District state legislators who have endorsed Hagedorn, along with 13 current and former Members of Congress and the U.S. Senate, five current and former First and Second Congressional District Chairs, and 23 Chairs, Deputy Chairs or Co-Chairs representing 18 of the district’s 21 counties. In the 2016 election, Hagedorn received 49.6% of the vote against six-term incumbent Tim Walz, who is not seeking re-election to Congress. Minnesota’s First District is considered the best pickup opportunity in the country for U.S. House Republicans.
