Last week’s enactment of a $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill proved once again that every day is Christmas in Washington, D.C. The appropriations “Christmas tree” was loaded up with big spending ornaments and packages for all, except, that is, the hard-working American taxpayers who pay the bill!

The past two campaign weeks have been excellent. From meeting with business leaders in Winona to attending the Dodge County GOP Christmas Party to holding grassroots fundraisers in Fairmont and Worthington to Main Street Campaigning in Mankato and Rochester, we are working hard and methodically building the organization needed to finish the job and defeat Walz in 2016.

This past week I reconnected with my southern Minnesota farm roots by harvesting corn in rural Blue Earth County with friends and supporters David Trio (see above picture) and his mother Vera. As can be observed from this short video shot from the cab of David's combine, modern agricultural machinery helps America’s farmers work the land with incredible efficiency.

This past week I attended an excellent charity event in Rochester to raise funds for the Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge program. Nearly 800 people were on hand to support the successful faith-based program that helps southern Minnesotans recover from drug and other serious addictions.
