Hagedorn Weekly Report #40

Islamic terrorism:

Our campaign’s focus on protecting the American people from Islamic terrorism and Tim Walz’s ‘soft on terrorism’ record is gaining more attention.

Check out this Minneapolis Star-Tribune article, “Minnesota Congressional Candidates Balancing Islamic Sentiments,” that reports on my proposal for the U.S. to take a refugee program “timeout” because Minnesota and our nation already have a terrorist recruiting problem. For more on my policy click here.

Also this week, our campaign gently sparred with the Editor of Worthington’s Daily Globe on the issue of radical Islam and Tim Walz’s antics of political correctness.

First was this column, “Encouraging diversity vs. angry rhetoric,” written by Worthington Daily Globe Editor Ryan McGaughey. Mr. McGaughey’s commentary was in response to this Hagedorn press release that included my comprehensive plan to defend the U.S. from radical Islamic terrorism.

I responded to McGaughey with this letter-to-the-editor, “Hagedorn responds to editor’s column.”

Lastly, journalist Ryan Brinks submitted this letter-to-the-editor, “Column shows blurry understanding of issue.”

Walz misrepresents himself on veterans medical care:

Evidently, Tim Walz is so desperate to be viewed by voters as solving the VA problems he and President Obama created, that he felt compelled to effectively lie to KEYC-TV, click to learn more and view story.

Walz made the bogus claim that a minor 4 paragraph bill, included in a huge veterans measure, will change the way VA medical care is delivered. In fact, the minor change referenced by Walz authorizes the VA to use reports from private doctors for the purposes of processing initial VA disability claims and has nothing to do with the VA abuse and medical care malpractice experienced by many veterans.

Walz’s KEYC fib shines light on two of the incumbent’s biggest VA liabilities:

  1. Veterans are worse off today than when Tim Walz was first elected to Congress 10 years ago.
  2. VA medical care problems are so systemic that the only solution is to empower all veterans to choose their own doctors and receive medical care wherever and whenever they deem appropriate, and at taxpayer expense. I strongly support this solution. Walz is opposed.
Rudy and Ellen

The focus of this past week was fundraising and preparing for the March 1st Precinct Caucuses, but I did have time to make several stops across the First District. Last Thursday I attended a very nice event, sponsored by Olmsted County Republicans, featuring former U.S. Senator Rudy Boschwitz and wife Ellen (see picture above).

Also this week I enjoyed attending the Minnesota GOP’s Lincoln-Reagan dinner in Minneapolis. The event, which featured a speech from U.S. Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas, raised money for our Republican Party and created unity.

It was great visiting with many fine Republican leaders, including popular legislators State Senator Bill Weber and State Representative Joe Schomacker (pictured) who represent constituencies in Minnesota’s southwest corner (see picture below).

Walz supports Obama’s EPA Clean Power rule to increase electricity prices:

Tim Walz is working hard to fulfill Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign promise to bankrupt the coal industry and make your electricity rates “necessarily skyrocket.”

Walz voted for Obama’s EPA cap and trade regulation – the so called Clean Power Plan – that is designed to artificially force states to convert electricity production from coal and other fossil fuels to far less reliable and significantly more expensive sources like solar.

By comparison, neighboring 7th District DFL Congressman Collin Peterson, who also represents a rural district, voted to block this extremist EPA rule. I’m with Peterson on this and most EPA issues.

Tim Walz is a global warming extremist who worships at the altar of mother earth and his high priest is Al Gore.  For the entire story, along with my policy of U.S. energy independence and regulatory reform, click here.

Continued - Walz mouths green energy propaganda, shows policy ignorance:

This week Tim Walz made a two photo op stops and met with solar industry lobbyists and investors to generate puff piece news stories. Walz made three false claims in Mankato and Rochester:

  • Minnesota solar projects produce electricity at the same price as coal, natural gas and other sources
  • Solar power is as reliable as that created from fossil fuel sources
  • Solar energy helps the U.S. reduce crude oil imports

All of Walz’s statements are completely false. 1) Highly subsidized solar energy is grossly inefficient and remains 2 to 3 times more expensive than electricity produced by coal, natural gas and even hydro and wind. 2) Solar energy is not as reliable, because it requires back up power from coal and other sources. 3) Conversion to solar energy has no affect on U.S. crude oil imports, as oil is not a source for power generation in Minnesota and nationally.

If nothing else, Walz’s photo op activities further unveiled that the congressman is good at repeating green energy talking points, but has no serious understanding of complex energy issues.

In actuality, the global warming agenda supported by Walz is forcing you pay higher electricity rates. Certainly, we should convert to cleaner energy sources when they become efficient and effective. Instead of the Obama-Walz EPA madness, we need a national energy policy of U.S. energy independence and Abundant, Reliable, Affordable U.S. energy.

For more on this, including my pro-energy policy, see this Facebook post.

Illegal aliens coddled by Obama-Walz commit heinous murder:

This Judicial Watch post highlights another example of how President Obama and open borders liberals like Tim Walz are hurting our country.

The overwhelming majority of southern Minnesotans want a congressman who will fight to secure our nation’s borders and demand enforcement of existing U.S. immigration statutes. That’s my policy!

This week I will be attending our Meet and Greet in Wells, preparing for the March 1st Precinct Caucuses, engaging the news media and, whenever possible, make Main Street campaign visits to meet more southern Minnesotans.
