HAGEDORN PLEASED WITH SUPREME COURT REINSTATEMENT OF TRUMP EXTREME VETTING ORDER
- Hagedorn remains strong advocate for a refugee program timeout -
Blue Earth, Minnesota – Republican Jim Hagedorn, candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s First District, said he is “pleased” with today’s Supreme Court action that reinstated key provisions of the extreme vetting executive order issued by President Trump to temporarily prohibit travel from six nations and impose a timeout on refugee transfers.
“I’m pleased the Supreme Court has taken initial steps to clarify the power of the President of the United States to implement timely, necessary measures to protect America from foreigners who pose a threat to our nation,” said Hagedorn.
The President’s order includes a “refugee program timeout,” a bold immigration policy first championed by Hagedorn.
On September 23, 2015, Hagedorn issued a commentary in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune calling for a refugee resettlement program timeout in order to begin a start-to-finish study of the system utilized by the United States to screen and accept refugees.
Hagedorn based his proposal upon the ongoing terrorist-recruiting and assimilation problems associated with refugees, both in Minnesota and nationally.
Hagedorn’s “timeout” policy pre-dated then-candidate Donald Trump’s proposal to limit immigration from terrorist nations. Click on the following link to review Hagedorn’s commentary. http://www.startribune.com/terror-recruits-show-we-need-a-refugee-time-out/328922231/
“The first responsibility of our President and all Members of Congress is to defend the United States and protect the American people,” Hagedorn stated. “I will continue to champion commonsense national security and immigration policies to Keep America Safe from Islamic supremacists and all who pose threats,” Hagedorn concluded.
