Hagedorn (mid-July) Report

Tony Cornish

Our campaign continues to attract widespread support, from national Republican leaders to grassroots First District activists.

Today and tomorrow I will be in Washington, D.C. meeting with prominent House Republicans and conservative, agriculture and pro-business leaders. Special thanks to my good friend Congressman Tom Emmer for hosting a meet and greet on behalf of my candidacy this evening.

Closer to home, State Legislators, County GOP Chairs and many, many other fine Americans are helping expand our campaign. I’m very pleased to announce that popular State Representative Tony Cornish (pictured with me during Saturday’s Paddlefish Days Parade in Madison Lake) has endorsed me for Congress. Thank you, Tony Cornish!

To all the GOP leaders and activists across the First District who are writing checks, walking parades and helping to support our campaign: Thank you! You can count on Team Hagedorn to keep working hard and standing up for the conservative values we share!

Over the first half of 2017, our campaign has already raised more than $300,000, with $200,000 in the bank (see news article).

With Tim Walz not running for reelection, MN-01 is the best GOP takeover opportunity in the nation. In 2016, we came within an eyelash of defeating Walz. In fact, had only 61 votes per county shifted from Tim to Jim, I would be in Congress today helping President Trump and the Republican congressional majority move our nation in a new direction. Yes, it was that close!

I’m very excited to announce two awesome fundraising events.

On August 3rd, Congressman Michael Conaway of Texas will be in Minnesota to speak at an event in support of the Hagedorn campaign (see invitation). Rep. Conaway Chairs the House Committee on Agriculture and is a powerful GOP leader. My goal is to serve on the Agriculture Committee and work to sustain family farming and our rural way of life. I invite all who have a stake in agriculture and our rural communities to join us.

Jim and Gil Gutknecht

I’m so very pleased that two extraordinary public servants - former U.S. Senator Rudy Boschwitz and former First District Congressman Gil Gutknecht - have agreed to hold a fundraiser on behalf of our campaign in Rochester. Details to follow, but most likely the event will be held sometime in September.

To make a contribution to our campaign today, please visit www.jimhagedorn.org/donate or send a check to: Friends of Hagedorn; 11 Civic Center Plaza, Suite 007; Mankato, MN 56001. Thank you for your support!

Team Hagedorn continues to crisscross southern Minnesota, campaigning at community events, county fairs, parades and on Main Street.

We are running a “general election” style campaign, working hard to not only stay connected with First District activists, but also continuing our multi-year effort to meet voters personally, increase my name identification and let people know my platform of Peace through Strength, free enterprise capitalism and preservation of our God-given rights.

Since our last report, our team has walked in an additional 13 parades, visited 6 county fairs and met with local “thought leaders” in Winona and other cities across the district. Before the end of October, we will have walked in more than 50 parades, visited all 21 county fairs and campaigned in every county and virtually every city in southern Minnesota. Then, our campaign will step it up for the election year!

Democrats in the Rochester area stepped up attacks of my support for extreme vetting and a refugee program timeout to protect the United States from Islamic supremacists and other subversives. Two letters were recently published in the Rochester Post-Bulletin. My response, also published in the Post-Bulletin, can be read here.
