Hagedorn Continues Strong Fundraising
Campaign builds critical support ahead of endorsing convention this weekend
Blue Earth, Minnesota – Jim Hagedorn, Republican candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s First Congressional District, today announced continued strong fundraising for the first quarter of 2018 (January 1-March 31) in advance of this weekend’s’ endorsing convention.
During the first quarter, the Friends of Hagedorn raised more than $133,000 with the vast majority coming from Minnesota residents. The total puts the committee at over $637,000 raised-to-date, with over $330,000 cash on hand, giving Hagedorn the most of any Republican candidate in the race.
“The continued backing of Minnesotans from across the First District is a strong vote of confidence in our campaign and further confirmation they support our efforts to communicate our conservative message and keep building name identification across southern Minnesota,” said Hagedorn.
The Minnesota First District Republican Party Convention will be held this weekend in Mankato where activists will gather to endorse a candidate and conduct other party business in preparation for the general election this fall.
“Jim’s hard work continues to pay dividends, and the results are crystal clear: endorsements from 18 of the district’s 21 county chairs or co-chairs; an expanded base of energized volunteers and the confidence of donors, not only in southern Minnesota, but across our state,” said Friends of Hagedorn Campaign Manager David FitzSimmons.
In the 2016 election, Hagedorn received 49.6% of the vote against six-term incumbent Tim Walz, who is not seeking re-election to Congress. Minnesota’s First District is considered the best pick-up opportunity in the country for U.S. House Republicans.
