By Joe Steck, Mankato Times - BLUE EARTH, MINN. — Jim Hagedorn, Republican candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s First Congressional District, today visited with Republican attendees at precinct caucus locations in Rochester, Byron, Kasson and Dodge Center.

“It was a privilege to meet with caucus participants in Dodge and Olmsted counties tonight, and I was impressed with the organization and excitement at every caucus location,” said Hagedorn. “Republicans are energized for the 2018 elections,” he commented.

Precinct caucuses are the kickoff to the political season in Minnesota and provide attendees the opportunity to debate issues, run for delegate and other party leadership positions and vote in the straw poll for Governor.

“As our team continues to campaign across all 21 counties of the First Congressional District, I look forward to meeting delegates, listening and learning the issues of concern to them, and earning their endorsement at the April 21 endorsing convention,” Hagedorn stated.

Hagedorn raised $501,062 in 2017, with $100,084 raised in the fourth quarter and has $281,820 cash on hand.

In the 2016 election, Hagedorn received 49.6% of the vote against six-term incumbent Tim Walz, who is not seeking re-election to Congress. Minnesota’s First District is considered the best pick-up opportunity in the country for U.S. House Republicans.
