Blue Earth, Minnesota – Jim Hagedorn, Republican candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s First District, today announced that David FitzSimmons will join his campaign as Campaign Manager effective January 1, 2018.

“I’m excited to announce the addition of David FitzSimmons to our campaign team,” said Hagedorn. “David was born in Mankato, has strong ties to the district, and his extensive background in agriculture, economic development, transportation and health care will bring key policy expertise to our growing team,” Hagedorn said.

FitzSimmons currently serves as Chief of Staff for Congressman Tom Emmer, and will take a leave of absence from that position to assume the Campaign Manager role. “David is the gold standard in campaign management and brings to the team his deep political experience as Campaign Manager for Congressman Emmer, as a former State Representative, and in numerous other roles within the Republican Party,” said Hagedorn Senior Advisor Gregg Peppin.

FitzSimmons has served as former chair for Wright County Republicans, the Sixth Congressional District Republicans and as a member of the state Republican Party Executive Committee. He has managed or worked with the campaigns of numerous state legislative, congressional, statewide, and presidential campaigns.

“It is an honor to join Jim’s team, and I look forward to working side-by-side with him to win the Republican endorsement and secure victory on election day. Jim's strong showing last election and the decision by the incumbent to not seek re-election have made this one of the top Republican pickup opportunities in the whole country. I am excited to help southern Minnesota send a Republican Representative to Congress once again,” said FitzSimmons.
