Hagedorn's Worked To Reform Insurance, Drug Prices

In 2010, my congressman and neighbor Democrat Tim Walz voted on a partisan basis to impose the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) on Americans causing people like myself in the private insurance market to lose affordable health insurance plans that worked for us.

In the ensuing years, the high cost of premiums and deductibles imposed by the “un-affordable care act” literally left me at times without even the choice of paying for food, utilities or the medications required for a pre-existing condition because the funds that would have paid for all of these expenses were consumed by the Obamacare premium.

When Congressman Walz and candidate Dan Feehan were asked years later at health-care town halls what steps they would take to amend Obamacare to address situations like mine, neither Walz nor Feehan offered any

Promises Made, Promises Kept on Hwy. 14

Promises Made, Promises Kept on Hwy. 14

Since taking office in January 2019, I promised my constituents that completion of the Hwy. 14 Corridor from Nicollet to New Ulm would be my top transportation and infrastructure priority. I am now extremely proud to report that the long overdue completion of this project – more than 50 years in the making – will finally become a reality.

On Sept. 10, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) approved the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) 2020 Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Transportation Discretionary Grant program application. This $22 million grant represents the final steppingstone in the effort to expand Hwy. 14 to four lanes from Nicollet to New Ulm.

This 12-mile stretch is the missing segment of the rural corridor that serves as the key economic artery from Rochester to New Ulm. The Hwy. 14 corridor is a vital route for the transportation of freight, agricultural material and much more, and provides rapid, reliable access to major markets, such as higher education opportunities in New Ulm, Mankato and

To the editor: I’ve been paying much attention to what our congressional candidates have been saying in their ads this election season and I hope others have been as well.

One ad that has had great impact on me is Jim Hagedorn’s TV ad featuring Freeborn County Sheriff Kurt Freitag. It brings back memories of the violent riots that occurred in Minneapolis and around the country, and the Democrat leadership’s inability to provide solutions to protect their citizens and deal with the lawlessness and destruction that resulted.

StoIt brings to mind a future with an abolished police force and anarchy-for example, not forgetting the terror that happened in Portland’s anti-police “autonomous zone”. While we are lucky to live in southern Minnesota and have seen only ripples of the shocking unrest of Minneapolis, we are always just one degree-one elected official-away from becoming

Jim Hagedorn Has Done A Great Job For Us!

To the Editor: The year, 2020, has been a very difficult year for most of us. Who would have guessed that we would experience a pandemic, be ordered to stay in our homes, mandated to wear masks, or that our Governor would grant himself Executive Power! The past six months have been like something out of a nightmare because of COVID-19.

Luckily, we have leadership in Washington that looks out for us and fights back. Thanks to President Trump, Minnesota has received units of PPE, funds for medical facilities and coronavirus tests. With the help of President Trump and our own Congressman Hagedorn, we are on our way to overcoming COVID-19 and returning to economic prosperity.

Because of President Trump’s solid leadership, eligible Minnesota taxpayers have received economic relief payments and, I believe, countless Minnesota jobs were saved through the Paycheck Protection Program. Not only that, but Congressman Hagedorn is working in a bipartisan fashion with other Minnesota Representatives in requesting transparency

FULL INTERVIEW: Jim Hagedorn Discusses Successes Of Past Term, Future Of Healthcare

Representative Jim Hagedorn barely won his seat in 2018. The current holder of Minnesota’s First Congressional seat beat Feehan by less than half a percent, approximately 1,300 voters. This year is set to be just as close.

While in office, Hagedorn has said one of his main priorities is to decrease the reach of government in people’s lives. This means decreasing taxes and rolling back excessive regulations.Tuesday evening, Hagedorn spoke to our Caitlin Alexander about why southern Minnesotans should reelect him in November. Below is the full transcript from that interview:

BLUE EARTH, Minn. — First District Congressman Jim Hagedorn today issued the following statement in response to the recent article published by the Washington Examiner:

“National media outlets are beginning to zero in on how Dan Feehan was paid to run for Congress by three liberal Democrat groups.

“The Washington Examiner article released today highlights how one of the organizations, New Politics Leadership Academy, paid Feehan $120,000 to run in Minnesota’s First Congressional District. Three other Democrat candidates were also paid varying amounts, and, based upon the lack of documented work, it appears each was illegally paid to run for Congress, which according to Federal Election Commission statutes constitutes a felony.”

“Feehan, who last week altered a false House income disclosure filing, needs to come clean and explain what, if any, bona fide work was performed, what projects completed, studies conducted and for how many hours and when,” said Gregg Peppin, Senior Advisor to the Hagedorn campaign.

Of note is this incriminating quote from the group’s founder and Executive Director who said of the payments: “And we just thought if we could provide some transition time for them; four months, where they get a stipend, so they don’t have to like worry about paying their rent or their groceries or their mortgage, right, and also they get four months to rethink and reflect and work on and do research on things that they find would be valuable for them as political leadership development.”

Last week, in a live televised KEYC-TV debate, Hagedorn sought an explanation from Feehan as to why he was paid as much as $476,000 by three Democrat groups. Feehan denied receiving any money and claimed to be unemployed.

BLUE EARTH, Minn. — The Hagedorn for Congress campaign today released a timeline which provides further documentation of DFL opponent Dan Feehan’s controversial Disclosure Report filings.

“Dan Feehan needs to account for the hundreds of thousands of dollars that went into his bank account and to prove his wages were for bona fide work and did not constitute illegal campaign contributions,” Hagedorn said. “Remember, 48 hours ago Feehan denied being employed by anyone.”

Timeline:

November 28, 2017:

Feehan filed his Financial Disclosure Report. According to his report, he was paid income by the following groups:

  • Leadership for Educational Equity – $50,000.00
  • Center for a New American Security – $7,916.00

August 13, 2018:

Feehan filed his Financial Disclosure Report. According to his report, he was paid income by the following groups:

  • Leadership for Educational Equity – $120,000 (noted on original 2019 House disclosure)
  • Center for a New American Security – $55,412.00
  • New Politics Leadership Academy – $64,000

October 31, 2019:

Feehan filed his Financial Disclosure Report. According to his report, he was paid income by the following groups:

  • Leadership for Educational Equity – $120,000.00
  • New Politics Leadership Academy – $55,500.00

September 27, 2020:

In televised KEYC-TV debate (see 48:30 mark) Hagedorn confronts Feehan about various income matters in Feehan’s House financial disclosure. Feehan denied taking money from groups and claims he’s never heard of them before. Argues he is unemployed.

September 28, 2020:

Hagedorn filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission seeking an investigation as to whether or not Feehan performed bona fide work in return for as much as $476,000 in wages over a short two-year timeframe. Failure to do so would constitute felony violations of Federal Election Commission campaign contribution limits.

Feehan amends his 2019 Financial Disclosure Report, completely erasing $120,000 from LEE from his income on a report he previously signed and verified as true.

Questions:

Where did the $120k go from Feehan’s 2018/2019 filings – which he previously verified as correct?

When will Feehan release a copy of each contract he signed with the three non-profit entities?

How many hours of work did Feehan perform for each of the contracts, what specific days/weeks was the work performed and how much was he compensated?

When will Feehan release any work products he produced on behalf of New Politics Leadership Academy, Leadership for Educational Equity, and the Center for a New American Security?

Hagedorn Files FEC Complaint Against Feehan

For Immediate Release:

Rachael Grooms – 763.614.8191

BLUE EARTH, Minn. — First District Republican Congressman Jim Hagedorn today filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against DFL opponent Dan Feehan.

“During last night’s KEYC-TV debate (49:40), my opponent, Dan Feehan, denied receiving nearly $500,000 from three Democrat groups during a two-year period while running for Congress. A compilation of Feehan’s House financial disclosure reports prove that Dan was lying,” Hagedorn said.

“Based upon Feehan’s financial disclosure reports to the U.S. House of Representatives, he was paid an extraordinary $184,000 from August 13, 2018 through December 31st of that year by multiple non-profits,” he continued. “Working 8 hours per day, every day, weekends included, during that 85-day period, would constitute Mr. Feehan being paid $271 per hour. Such wages cannot be justified based upon any reasonable standard, especially considering Mr. Feehan was waging a full-time campaign for Congress in a closely contested race from August 13 through November 6th.”

Accepting wages while running for Congress and not performing bona fide work is a clear felony violation of Federal Election Commission statutes.

“Feehan should immediately provide proof of how he earned almost $500,000 over a short period of time while also running for a contested House seat. It certainly appears Dan was paid to run for Congress, and concerned voters across southern Minnesota deserve answers, which I hope an investigation by the FEC will provide.” Hagedorn concluded.
