AUSTIN — Wednesday evening’s town hall meeting, hosted by First District Rep. Jim Hagedorn, was a small microcosm of the bigger reality plaguing American politics in this new era.

Almost from the beginning the meeting quickly descended from an orderly discussion to yelling, interruption and often time mockery from both sides. This needs to change.

To begin with, however; we would like to commend Hagedorn for holding these town hall meetings. This is the second time he’s come to Austin to listen to and answer questions from constituents in the First District and it’s an important part of the process

Today, US Congressman Jim Hagedorn is in Rochester, touring two businesses, seeing first hand the issues they’re facing.

It’s a problem Dakota Supply Group CEO Paul Kennedy struggles with.

“There’s really been a tough time to view the trades as a viable career option,” he said.

ROCHESTER — Ahead of a Winona County townhall Tuesday night, Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District Representative, Jim Hagedorn (R), stopped by Dakota Supply Group’s Rochester branch.

The meeting kicked off with Dakota Supply Group (DSG) employees showcasing their wide range of products such as plumbing, electrical and utility equipment.

Once the tour finished, DSG officials asked Hagedorn for his support of a bill that expands tax incentives and federal assistance for companies that are owned by employees, such as DSG.

ROCHESTER — Minn.-Veterans are getting a new medical facility. They’re expanding services here at the new outpatient clinic. The clinic will provide primary care and pharmacy management but the biggest upgrade is more mental health services for veterans.
