Congressman Hagedorn Visits St. Peter Ahead of the Upcoming Election Day

Local candidates are pulling out the last stops until Election Day next week. On the Republican side, Rep. Jim Hagedorn, who represents Congressional District One, joined supporters of the president at a parade this morning. Congressional District One was a tightly fought race in 2018.

In 2018, challenger Dan Feehan lost to Congressman Hagedorn by about 1,300 votes out of 300,000 cast.

“In St. Peter there’s gonna be a big rally of course. We’re supporting the President and freedom,” said the Congressman. Residents of southern Minnesota gathered in St. Peter to show their support for President Trump and other Republican candidates on the ballot this year. Those in attendance included Congressman Jim Hagedorn and Susan Akland. “What the folks are telling me is that they’re worried about the future of the country. This is the most consequential election in our nation’s history. That if we elect president Trump and republicans like myself, we’re gonna keep moving the country in the right direction to fulfill the vision of the forefathers of this country and all that’s good about America.”

The Board of Directors of the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association, the largest public safety organization in the state, has released their list of endorsed candidates in the 2020 General Election for Minnesota State Senate and House of Representatives, as well as for Minnesota’s federal offices.

The MPPOA has regularly endorsed state and federal candidates who are strong supporters of public safety personnel and legislative priorities.

This 2020 election cycle marks a shift in candidates who are endorsed by MPPOA Board of Directors. In the past, a majority of candidates had been part of the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. This cycle, most of the candidates are from the Minnesota Republican Party.

In September, Congressman Jim Hagedorn was awarded the Champion of Healthcare Innovation Award from the American Life Services Innovation Council.

I feel very fortunate to have him as our congressman for many reasons, but his passion for health care is on the top of that list.

His dedication to protecting the important policies that position America as the world’s leading force in the innovative life sciences cannot be overstated.

Hagedorn Asking for Investigation into Legality of Company Threatening to Close Rochester Facilities

Thursday, Congressman Jim Hagedorn asked U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Eugene Scalia to investigate the legality of a California-based company threatening to close its three Rochester facilities and layoff nearly 500 workers if they do not renegotiate their less than one year old contract.

Hagedorn says last December, employees of Crenlo Engineered Cabs in Rochester signed a labor agreement to last until 2024. Crenlo’s parent company is now threatening to impose changes as soon as November 1 if the workers do not renegotiate their contract to include reduced scheduled pay raises, adjustments to health and dental plans, and revisions to overtime and holiday pay calculations. The company has also refused to pay for accommodations for the union to hold a vote to renegotiate at an offsite facility that allows for proper COVID-19 precautions.

In addition to the letter below, Hagedorn says he personally discussed the matter with U.S. Labor Secretary Eugene during the secretary’s visit to Le Center today.

Hagedorn to Complete 21-County Campaign Tour

From my first campaign for Congress, and continuing to this year, I've made it a point to travel to all four corners of the district multiple times to listen to concerns and discuss the issues of importance to residents," Hagedorn said in a statement.

Hagedorn is seeking his second two-year term in a race against DFL challenger Dan Feehan. Two years ago, he beat Feehan by a mere 1,300 votes and this year's race has the potential to be close as well. The Cook Political Report has judged the contest to be a toss up, meaning either side can win.

Hagedorn is scheduled to campaign in Olmsted County on Friday, the same day that President Donald Trump is speaking at the Rochester

My Point of View: Republican Party Offers the Hardest-Working Candidates

My Point of View: Republican Party Offers the Hardest-Working Candidates

It takes a lot of hard work.

The Freeborn County Republicans have worked very hard on this campaign, and everyone can be proud of them. A great team is behind this success. From the day we opened our local headquarters until election night, a large group of hard-working people took on more because it was important to them to help others.

The local DFL didn’t take the time to have a headquarters and has chosen not to participate in the traditional election night get together with the media and Republicans this year. Maybe this wasn’t their year to work as hard as they have in the past. Understandably so, they haven’t had inspiring leadership to push them. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have put a lid on more days of campaigning than they have campaigned, and even then it is often just from a basement zoom call. C’mon man, get out of the basement, you’re running for president!

In southern Minnesota we have two of the hardest-working people serving us in St. Paul and Washington, D.C., and we’re thankful state Rep. Peggy Bennett and U.S. Congressman Jim Hagedorn each agreed to run for reelection. Peggy has always been trusted to work hard for District 27A and always delivers. Jim, in between flights back and forth to Washington, D.C., was just here for our local hero Arik Matson’s return home. Jim may live next door in Faribault County and grew up in Truman, but he loves Albert Lea’s Freeborn County and Minnesota District No. 1 and is working very hard

Rep. Jim Hagedorn campaigns in Austin

Congressman Jim Hagedorn (R-MN1) spent the day Friday doing Main Street campaigning and speaking to residents in Austin and Albert Lea. Hagedorn said he has been to about 50 cities throughout the district since the pandemic began.

In serving in Congress these two years, we paid attention to the needs of this district,” he told the Herald. “As far as the district’s interests are concerned, the voters are mostly concerned about agriculture, small business and medical care. Those line up with the economic interests of the district and line up with what I’ve been looking out for this first term.

Hagedorn said he has heard good things from local farmers, citing rising prices of soybeans and corn as well as bumper crops as reasons.
