Hagedorn Weekly Report #48

Jim in Truman

MAIN STREET CAMPAIGNING/GOP COUNTY CONVENTIONS –

All 21 GOP County Conventions are complete. Last weekend I attended conventions in Olmsted, Nicollet and Martin Counties, as well as State Senate/State Rep. endorsing conventions for Rice, Steele, Waseca and Le Sueur Counties. It was great speaking to over 700 fired up conservatives and spreading my message of bold federal government reform and a return to the basic principles that made America a great nation.

It was a special thrill to speak to the Martin County Republicans in Truman, my childhood hometown of about 1,100 people (see picture above). Having grown up on the Hagedorn farm just outside of Truman I am especially appreciative of family farming and the importance of agriculture for our small communities.

My speech to Martin county delegates focused on how the bad government votes of Tim Walz (EPA regulations, Obamacare, extremist global warming policies and higher fuel and estate taxes) are forcing farmers, small businesses and rural residents to pay more for basic necessities and placing enormous negative pressure on agri-business and southern Minnesota's rural communities.

MEDIA –

KEYC-TV; Hagedorn’s Plan for VA Reform Includes Providing Veterans with Complete Medical Care Choice:
Thanks to KEYC-TV, Mankato, for this television report on my reform solutions to help veterans receive timely, quality medical care.

Worthington Daily Globe: Ryan Brinks Letter-to-the-Editor – Big Spender Walz Has Hurt Us:
Thanks to GOP leader Ryan Brinks for this letter-to-the-editor highlighting Tim Walz’s failed liberal record, especially Walz’s big spending votes that have more than doubled the national debt during his 10 years in DC ($8.5 trillion in 2006 to $19.3 trillion today).

Fundraising

FUNDRAISING –

We closed out the first quarter of 2016 with receipts of about $27,000, and cumulative election cycle receipts of almost $140,000.

Our fundraising is far ahead of the 2014 campaign, and we are doing better than previous GOP candidates at this stage of the race, with the exception of Dr. Brian Davis’s 2008 campaign. Fact is that most congressional challengers receive the vast majority of contributions during the last six months of the campaign.

Tim Walz continues to collect cash from federal union bosses, Washington, D.C. lobbyists, radical abortionists, extremist environmental groups, Minneapolis trial lawyers and other leftists who do not even reside in the First District.

Meanwhile, our campaign depends upon you, the good and decent people of southern Minnesotan, to provide the vast majority of our campaign’s resources. By the way, our next grassroots meet and greet will be held in Houston County on April 26th - 137 East Main Street; Caledonia, MN from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. Please join us! Click to view flyer for more details.

Please visit our website to make a secure donation of $25, $50, $100 or more today and help us deliver our winning message of Peace through Strength, free enterprise capitalism, limited government, the rule of law and defense of our God-given rights. To make a contribution by check, please mail to: Friends of Hagedorn; 11 Civic Center Plaza, Suite 007; Mankato, MN 56001.

Together, we will finish the job and defeat liberal Tim Walz in November. Thank you!

HAGEDORN vs. WALZ

HAGEDORN vs. WALZ (ON THE ISSUES) –

Obama and the EPA bankrupt another U.S. Coal Company:

This week Peabody, the largest coal company in the United States, joined dozens of coal providers by declaring bankruptcy. The company’s stock had lost 99% of its value during the Obama administration.

In 2008, candidate Barack Obama warned utilities that if they built coal-fired power plants, they would go broke, because electricity rates needed to necessarily skyrocket.

Eight years later, the mere threat of extremist global warming regulations and taxes, along with the historically low price of natural gas, have destroyed an industry that employs hundreds of thousands of Americans and provides many good-paying jobs to people who live in relatively poor communities. Obama admits Libya is a basket case:

Even President Obama admits that Hillary Clinton’s war to topple Col. Muammar Gaddafi was a total disaster. Tim Walz voted for Hillary’s war in Libya – a fiasco that created regional destabilization, the expansion of ISIS, the slaughter of Christians and a massive Islamic terrorism refugee crisis. Get out of Jail, Free Card

Democrats unveil “Get Out Of Jail, Free Card” incarceration policy:

Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and the national Democrats are trashing Bill Clinton for the 1994 crime bill, implying that high incarceration rates for blacks and Hispanics demonstrates racism. But, fact is, the best way to drive down the rate of violent crime is to lock up violent felons who perpetrate a disproportionate share of future violent crimes. In my view, the color or race of criminals is irrelevant.

In effect, the Democrat Party’s policy for violent criminals, drug dealers and illegal alien felons is “Get Out of Jail, Free Card” (see above). Instead, our nation must enforce the rule of law and protect innocent citizens. Race and color should be irrelevant.

MAY 7TH, SAVE THE DATE –

Our campaign is looking forward to the May 7th First District Convention in Mankato. I am diligently calling delegates and alternates to gain their views and build support as we approach the convention and move into the general election.
