Blue Earth, MN – Jim Hagedorn, Republican candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s First District, today reiterated his support for H.R. 38, the “Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017.”

“As an ardent defender of the Second Amendment and the inalienable right of law-abiding U.S. citizens to keep and bear arms, I support legislation to facilitate the national reciprocity of concealed carry permits and privileges,” Hagedorn stated.

“In my view, Americans who lawfully carry concealed firearms should be afforded the right of self-protection across state lines,” Hagedorn said. “I also support provisions of H.R. 38 to update the National Instant Criminal Background Check System and help block ineligible persons from purchasing or possessing firearms,” he said.

During his race against Democratic Congressman Tim Walz in 2016, Hagedorn received an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association and was given similar top ratings from other pro-Second Amendment groups.

In the 2016 election, Hagedorn received 49.6% of the vote against Rep. Walz, who is not seeking reelection to Congress. Minnesota’s First Congressional District “open seat” is considered the best takeover opportunity in the nation for U.S. House Republicans.
