FOUR MORE LEGISLATORS ENDORSE HAGEDORN
Four More Committee Chairs Pledge Backing in CD 1 Campaign

Blue Earth, Minnesota – Jim Hagedorn, Republican candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s First Congressional District, today announced his campaign has been endorsed by four additional state legislators with jurisdiction over transportation, agriculture, small business, consumer protection, education and energy issues in the Minnesota House and Minnesota Senate.

The list of additional endorsements includes:

  • State Representative Paul Torkelson of Hanska, Chair of the House Transportation Finance Committee. Torkelson is serving his fifth term representing Brown, Redwood and Renville Counties
  • State Senator Gary Dahms of Redwood Falls, Chair of the Commerce and Consumer Protection Finance and Policy Committee. Dahms is serving his third term representing Brown, Lac Qui Parle, Lyon, Redwood, Renville and Yellow Medicine Counties
  • State Senator Eric Pratt of Prior Lake, Chair of the E-12 Policy Committee. Pratt is serving his second term representing Scott County
  • State Senator Dave Osmek of Mound, Chair of the Energy and Utilities Finance and Policy Committee. Osmek is serving his second term representing Carver and Hennepin Counties

“Our campaign continues to be energized by key endorsements from legislators that represent communities not only in the First District, but from suburban and exurban areas of Minnesota as well,” said Hagedorn. “Like the other party leaders who have endorsed our campaign, these legislative leaders understand the importance of uniting the party to win the primary and general elections and return common-sense conservative leadership to southern Minnesota,” added Campaign Manager David FitzSimmons.

The Torkelson, Dahms, Pratt and Osmek endorsements bring to 13 the number of state legislators who have endorsed Hagedorn, along with 13 current and former Members of Congress and the U.S. Senate, five current and former First and Second Congressional District Chairs, and 23 Chairs, Deputy Chairs or Co-Chairs representing 18 of the district’s 21 counties. The complete list is attached.

In the 2016 election, Hagedorn received 49.6% of the vote against six-term incumbent Tim Walz, who is not seeking re-election to Congress. Minnesota’s First District is considered the best pickup opportunity in the country for U.S. House Republicans.
