Hagedorn Weekly Report #36

2016 Crystal Ball House ratings

Chart

MN-CD1 RACE HITS NATIONAL RADAR –

Great news! Respected national political analyst Larry Sabato now rates Minnesota’s First District as one of only 21 congressional seats held by Democrats as potentially vulnerable to GOP takeover in 2016. (See Dr. Sabato’s Crystal Ball chart, above, or visit http://www.centerforpolitics.org/crystalball/ for more information.)

This is a big positive development! To place this in perspective, Democrats now hold 188 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, so being part of a small group of 21 targeted races is huge. Note: during the 2012 and 2014 election cycles Dr. Sabato considered MN-CD1 as “Safe Democratic” (even though our 54-46% result in the 2014 election proved otherwise).

The close 2014 election result, our Main Street campaign’s continued hard work and Tim Walz’s mounting political vulnerabilities are being noticed. Thank you for all you are doing to help us make steady progress and be in position to finish the job in November.

Together we will defeat liberal Walz, take back our country and we will restore America’s greatness!

MAIN STREET CAMPAIGNING –

It’s been a fun week of campaigning. I had the pleasure of attending the Minnesota Pork Board’s tradeshow in Minneapolis. Having grown up on our family’s grain and hog farm in Truman, I always enjoy spending time with farmers and agricultural industry leaders.

Our campaign enjoys strong support from southern Minnesota’s farmers, especially pork producers. I had a great time visiting with industry leaders, including owners of Nicollet County’s Compart Family Farms (pictured above).

Also this week I traveled to the southeast corner of the First District and enjoyed attending meetings with Winona County and Houston County Republican leaders. Our campaign is working very hard to organize in all 21 counties so we are positioned to connect with voters in every spot and corner of southern Minnesota in November.

Thanks to all First District GOP leaders for all you are doing to help our Party win this election and fight for our shared beliefs!

MEDIA –

Engaging the media and addressing issues promptly and straight-forwardly is an important part of our grassroots campaign. I enjoy interacting with the media and am comfortable addressing policy questions posed in open-ended interviews.

Mankato Free Press (Mankato) –

Thanks to the Mankato Free Press for this news story comparing Tim Walz and me on firearms issues.

The Free Press article highlights several important points: 1) Pro-2nd Amendment interest groups give me superior ratings, overall; 2) my positions on firearms issues and the right of law-abiding Americans to keep and bear arms are principled and clear-cut; 3) Tim Walz offers mealy-mouthed positions and still refuses to take a stand, for or against, on Obama’s gun control executive action issued more than 2 weeks ago.

Second Amendment supporters deserve a congressman who will defend the inalienable rights of law-abiding Americans and offer clear and timely issue positions.

KWOA Radio (Worthington) –

Click to listen to my interview with News Director Justine Wettschreck of Worthington’s KWOA Radio. In the clip I discuss why 2016 is a defining election and offer my conservative solutions to deal with radical Islam, secure America’s borders, stymie Obama’s unlawful executive orders and improve the U.S. economy by taking power from the Washington, D.C. politicians and bureaucrats and returning it to the states and American people.

GRASSROOTS FUNDRAISING –

We are finalizing plans to hold grassroots fundraisers in Rock County, Faribault County, Steele County, Rice County and Fillmore County over the next 30 – 45 days. (Details to follow, soon.) If you would like to hold a fundraiser or meet-and-greet, please email info@jimhagedorn.org.

To support our campaign financially, please make a contribution electronically click here or make checks out to Friends of Hagedorn and mail to: Friends of Hagedorn; 11 Civic Center Plaza, Suite 007; Mankato, MN 56001.

Note: contributions to our campaign are not tax deductible with the IRS and the maximum contribution, per individual, is $2,700 for the primary election and $2,700 for the general election or a total of $5,400. Thank you!

Hagedorn & Walz

HAGEDORN vs. WALZ (ON THE ISSUES) –

Hillary Clinton (who Tim Walz endorsed) is in deep trouble & should be indicted:

Click to read the news story about how Hillary Clinton’s unsecured email server, housed in a Colorado bathroom, held secrets so sensitive that investigators could not review the information without first obtaining security clearances above even “top secret.” These developments are disturbing and demonstrate the former Secretary of State’s “cavalier” attitude toward U.S. intelligence and our nation’s security.

I handled classified materials while serving as a Congressional Relations Officer for the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Based upon my firsthand understanding of the statutes and rules, it is clear Hillary Clinton has violated federal laws and acted inappropriately. Any rank and file federal employee would already have been charged with serious felonies.

Obama’s Iran Deal (voted for by Tim Walz) is a national security disaster:

Obama and the Democrats think smart diplomacy is putting Iran on a pathway to nuclear weapons, giving the mullahs $150 billion to acquire weapons and finance more war and terrorism, thanking the Shiites for abusing 10 U.S. sailors and ignoring Iran’s illegal ballistic missile tests. More than 500,000 foreigners overstayed temporary U.S. visas in 2015 alone:

The open borders policies of both parties continue to hurt U.S. workers and make our country vulnerable to felony crime, terrorism and infectious disease. President Obama is doing nothing to deport foreigners who overstay temporary visas, including those from Muslim countries that preach hatred of America and our values. Here’s my plan: we must implement a biometric entry-exit visa system…for more of my views click here.

THIS WEEK –

This week I am scheduled to attend GOP meetings, meet with farmers at the MN Ag EXPO 2016 in Mankato, engage the media, make Main Street campaign appearances and work to raise the funds needed to deliver our winning message.
