HAGEDORN SUPPORTS U.S. ENERGY INDEPENDENCE; WITHDRAWAL FROM PARIS CLIMATE ACCORD
Blue Earth, Minnesota – Jim Hagedorn, GOP candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s First District, issued the following statement concerning President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Accord.
“As an ardent proponent of achieving U.S. energy independence and creating economic growth and high-wage jobs for southern Minnesotans and all Americans, I support the President’s decision to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Accord.
Our goal must be abundant, reliable and affordable U.S. energy. The United States has more natural energy reserves than any nation on earth. That’s why I support an ‘all of the above’ energy strategy, combined with construction of the pipelines, refineries and distribution points needed to efficiently utilize our vast energy resources and place downward pressure on the cost of energy, the cost of business and the cost of living.
The liberal Democrat/extremist environmentalist agenda of anti-energy EPA regulations, cap and trade, a carbon tax and other big government schemes place U.S. agriculture, small businesses, manufacturers, American workers and consumers at a severe global disadvantage. In fact, the only climate that would be ‘cooled’ by the Paris Climate Accord is the high-wage jobs and business climate of the United States.
We must continue to make dramatic change at the federal level to expand our economy and create good-paying jobs. In addition to U.S. energy independence, I support many pro-growth solutions, including tax simplification, regulatory reform, budget reform, work-for-welfare and repeal and replacement of Obamacare.”
