HOUSE AG CHAIR CONAWAY OFFERS SUPPORT –
Our campaign continues to build post-election momentum by attracting support from national, statewide and grassroots Republican leaders.
During my August 3rd visit to Farmfest I had the pleasure of discussing agriculture policy with Rep. Michael Conaway of Texas, Chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture (see above photo). Later that day Chairman Conaway, U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer of Minnesota’s 6th District and former U.S. Senator Rudy Boschwitz made remarks at a Minneapolis event in support of our campaign.
Building a strong working relationship with Chairman Conaway and other leaders in U.S. agriculture is critically important to the First District. Our rural economy is in recession and many southern Minnesota farmers and agri-businesses are struggling.
One of the primary reasons I am running for Congress is to serve as a majority (Republican) member of the House Committee on Agriculture and be positioned to craft solutions to reduce burdens on agriculture, expand global markets, sustain family farming, improve our rural economy and support communities, large and small.
JIM ENDORSED BY 1ST DISTRICT LEGISLATORS –
I was honored to receive the early endorsement of five distinguished Minnesota State Legislators. Thanks to State Senator Julie Rosen, State Senator Rich Draheim, State Representative Bob Gunther, State Representative Tony Cornish and State Representative Bob Vogel for their support! To all First District GOP leaders and activists who are writing checks, walking parades and supporting our campaign: Thank you! You can count on Team Hagedorn to keep working hard and standing up for our shared conservative values!
HAGEDORN IN THE NEWS –
Our campaign continues to be in the news. This Minn Post article by Sam Brodey highlights the perspective of urban and rural voters in Minnesota’s congressional districts. The Hagedorn campaign is referenced and I’m quoted.
Check out Barry Casselman's article published in this week’s The Weekly Standard about how Minnesota appears ready to shift Republican. Again, our campaign is prominently referenced.
Thanks to editor Justin Lessman and the Jackson County Pilot for this article covering our campaign and my recent visit to Jackson County.
Lastly, Larry Sabato's Crystal Ball rates our race as "TOSS-UP" (see above chart). But with Walz not seeking reelection to Congress and EIGHT Democrats scrambling for $$ and attention, MN-1 is the best House GOP takeover opportunity in the country.
HAGEDORN’S 21-COUNTY RETAIL CAMPAIGN –
Team Hagedorn continues to crisscross southern Minnesota, campaigning at community events, county fairs, parades and on Main Street.
We are running a “general election” style campaign, working hard to not only stay connected with First District activists, but also continuing our multi-year effort to meet voters personally, increase name identification and let people know my platform of Peace through Strength, free enterprise capitalism and preservation of our God-given rights.
Before the end of October we will have walked in more than 50 parades, visited all 21 county fairs and campaigned in every county and virtually every city in southern Minnesota. I look forward to seeing you on the campaign trail!

BOSCHWITZ - GUTKNECHT ROCHESTER FUNDRAISER –
I’m so very pleased that two extraordinary public servants from Minnesota - former U.S. Senator Rudy Boschwitz and former First District Congressman Gil Gutknecht - have agreed to hold a fundraiser on behalf of our campaign in Rochester. Details to follow, but most likely the event will be held in September or October.

Thank you for your support!
HAGEDORN ON THE ISSUES –
SPECIAL THANKS TO AKKERMAN, INC. –
Thanks to Maynard Akkerman, President and CEO of Akkerman, Inc., and his colleagues for offering me a tour of their manufacturing facility earlier this week (see above photo).
Akkerman, based in Brownsdale, Minnesota (Mower County), is a manufacturer and global distributor of high-tech tunnel, trench and pipeline equipment. I enjoyed learning more about the thriving enterprise and also discussing small business, underground infrastructure, health insurance and federal tax reform issues with Mr. Akkerman.
Thanks for reading!
