Hagedorn Campaign Report (mid-March)

Jim Hagedorn for Congress

HAGEDORN BUILDING POST-ELECTION MOMENTUM –

Our campaign continues to build momentum from our razor-thin (50.3%-49.6%) 2016 election with Tim Walz.

NRCC TARGETS MN-CD1 – In a big switch, the National Republican Congressional Committee has already targeted Minnesota’s First District for takeover. See the NRCC and Hagedorn press releases.

INSIDE ELECTIONS WITH NATHAN L. GONZALES – The well respected and non-partisan Inside Elections recently rated MN-CD1 as “Lean Democratic” and projects that the Democrat seat is vulnerable to takeover in 2018 whether Walz runs for re-election to Congress or takes a run at Governor. Note: In 2016, Inside Elections rated our race “Safe Democratic.” For the full story, click here.

MINNESOTA’S FREEDOM CLUB ENDORSES HAGEDORN – On Monday, I received the endorsement of Minnesota’s Freedom Club, a group of successful and influential conservatives who back candidates committed to reforms and solutions to foster free enterprise and our American way of life. I am humbled and honored to receive the Club’s support, especially at this early point in the race. (See photo below, pictured with me is Freedom Club president Richard Andolshek and former U.S. Senator Rudy Boschwitz)

Early Fundraising

EARLY FUNDRAISING –

The only reason Tim Walz is still in Congress is because our campaign was outspent by more than 4-1.

My three keys to defeating Tim Walz (or winning an open seat if he runs for Governor) in 2018 are:

  1. Perseverance. Remain the hardest working congressional candidate in the nation, travel southern Minnesota and stay personally connected with residents.

  2. Message. Continue to articulate bold conservative solutions to solve America’s challenges and offer a clear-contrast to the failed record of Obama/Walz/DFL.

  3. Funding. Execute a fully-funded campaign to further increase familiarity with the Hagedorn name and broadcast issue-based ads to voters in all areas and cities of Minnesota’s First District.

Earlier this week our campaign mailed a fundraising letter to Republican friends and supporters across southern Minnesota and beyond. Click here to read our letter.

Please write a check today or visit our secure electronic contribution page to help us reach our goal and be one of the 10,000 supporters needed to turn MN-CD1 Red.

Checks mailed to: Friends of Hagedorn; 11 Civic Center Plaza, Suite 007; Mankato, MN 56001. Or visit www.jimhagedorn.org/donate to contribute online. Thank you!

Main Street Campaigning

MAIN STREET CAMPAIGNING –

I continue to travel the First District and connect with GOP activists, business leaders and other residents.

Recently I attended the Rock County GOP Convention in Luverne (see above photo) and updated them on our campaign. In all, I have attended 16 Republican county conventions in the past two months. The response has been extremely positive.

This past Monday I addressed the First District Republican executive committee in Albert Lea. I’m looking forward to attending and speaking at the First District Republican Convention in Owatonna, April 1st.

On March 23rd I will be at the Minnesota Republican Party’s annual Lincoln-Reagan dinner featuring conservative commentator Dennis Prager. For more information about this event, click here.
