Hagedorn Continues Solid Fundraising Pace
Campaign in strong financial position heading to August 14 Republican primary
Blue Earth, Minnesota – Jim Hagedorn, Republican candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s First Congressional District, today announced continued strong fundraising numbers for the second quarter of 2018, (April 1-June 30) in advance of the August 14 Republican Primary Election.
In the second quarter, the Friends of Hagedorn raised $172,368 with sustained growth in contributions from Minnesota residents. The total puts the committee at over $809,000 raised-to-date, with over $390,000 cash on hand.
“The frequency and increasing number of contributions from small donors is evidence that our grass roots strategy of retail campaigning across all 21 counties of the First District is being recognized by southern Minnesotans who value this face-to-face interaction,” said Hagedorn.
The fundraising numbers also reflect a marked uptick in contributions after Hagedorn’s overwhelming first ballot endorsement by the First District Republican Party on April 21, and are indicative of an energized base of activist Republicans who will be voting in the August 14 Primary Election.
“Winning elections takes money, but it also requires a hard working candidate, an organized campaign team and, most importantly, an appreciation that voters want a clear, honest and straightforward discussion of the issues facing our country. That’s what the Hagedorn campaign will continue to do,” said Campaign Manager David FitzSimmons.
In the 2016 election, Hagedorn received 49.6% of the vote against six-term incumbent Tim Walz, who is not seeking re-election to Congress. Minnesota’s First District is considered the best pick-up opportunity in the country for U.S. House Republicans.
