Campaign Update - Primary Competitor

Jim Hagedorn

I wanted to inform you of a recent campaign development.

Shortly before yesterday’s filing deadline a perennial Independence Party candidate filed to run for congress in the August 9th First District Republican primary.

Stephen Williams, who ran as a third party candidate in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014, filed as a Republican this year, presumably, because the Independence Party lost major party status and ballot access following the 2014 election.

We certainly will not allow a last-minute perpetual candidate, especially one who supports a government takeover of health care, to exploit the GOP or deflect attention from our insurgent-challenger campaign against Tim Walz.

The Hagedorn Main Street campaign has been working hard and fulltime for almost 3 years organizing in each of the First District’s 21 counties, shaking hands with more than 100,000 voters and contrasting my bold reforms and solutions with Tim Walz’s failed liberal voting record of open borders, Obamacare, extremist EPA regulations, record federal debt and abortion in the 7th, 8th and 9th month of pregnancy.

I am honored to have received the First District Republican Party’s endorsement for Congress on May 7th and I appreciate the grassroots support of conservatives and independent-minded voters who are distressed with the current plight of the United States and fed up with the seedy ways of Washington, D.C.

You can count on me to continue campaigning passionately and relentlessly to spread our message of national security, free enterprise capitalism, limited government, adherence to the U.S. Constitution and protection of our God-given rights.

Southern Minnesotans are demanding transformation, not of our country, but of the federal government and the go along, get along national political establishment. I am eager to deliver such change as your servant in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Please support our campaign and, together, let’s take back our country and restore America’s greatness!

With appreciation,

Jim Hagedorn
